FIRST COMMUNION

Any person’s first experience of the Lord’s Supper is a key milestone in their journey of following Jesus together with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Redeemer, following the teachings of Saint Paul that one should be baptized, mature and understanding before receiving the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 10:27-30 & 11:17-34), invites all our current 6th grade students as well as any middle school students who do not yet receive communion to a time of learning all about Holy Communion. Our time of learning together will prepare students to celebrate their First Communion together with the larger body of Christ at our 5:30 pm Maundy Thursday (March 28,2024). After this instruction and celebration of First Communion, students are invited to regularly partake in the Lord’s Supper alongside their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ at Redeemer. 

Please set aside two hours on one dates that this Instruction is offered and plan for at least one parent/guardian and/or sponsor to attend the full class with your student.
