Redeemer Head of School Call Information
Redeemer’s current Head of School will be stepping down at the end of the 2024-2025 school year after many years of dedication to the ministry of Lutheran Education.
Redeemer has now engaged in a call process in accordance with Redeemer’s Constitution to find the next Head of School.
A Congregational Call Meeting to call a Head of School will be held will be held Sunday, October 27 at 10:30am in the Worship Center. Members of Redeemer who are 18 years or older are eligible to vote.
The following is a job description for Head of School:
Position Summary:
The Head of School will lead children to Love Jesus, Love Learning, and Love Others by:
1. Providing a Christ-centered education that promotes the shared values of the Redeemer community.
2. Coordinating, directing, supervising, and evaluating a school environment where students, teachers, and support staff experience growth; and learning that enables each child to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
3. The Head of School is a member of the Administrative Staff and the Ministerial Staff in leading the ministry of Redeemer. Utilizing a policy-based governance model, the Presidium entrusts overall leadership of the Redeemer ministry to the Senior Pastor. He, in turn, implements the ministries through the Administrative Staff, of which the Head of School is a member. The Head of School therefore works as part of the Administrative Team and is accountable to the leadership of the Senior Pastor.
Supervises: Preschool Director and School Principals
Essential Responsibilities:
The Head of School will work closely with the School Board, School Administrative Team, and the Administrative Team in all matters. His / Her responsibilities shall include all the activities of the school and of the staff that are assigned to roles in the school. The following are the priority activities that the Head of School will conduct personally:
1. Provide Spiritual Leadership for the School
The Head of School will build strong relationships with children, families, and staff members to help them grow closer to Jesus in their daily walk. He/she will guide staff in their role as spiritual leaders to the students and families in their classrooms. The Head of School will provide opportunities to help the staff grow spiritually.
2. Coordinate the Marketing and Admissions Strategies for Redeemer School
The Head of School will develop marketing strategies for student recruitment and resource development including social media.
3. Develop the School Budget
The Head of School will develop a budget annually that closely reflects the financial needs of Redeemer School. He/she will manage the school budget in concert with the entire ministry of Redeemer with the goal of creating a balanced budget that is fiscally sound and sufficient in meeting the Redeemer’s ministry goals.
4. Create Development Opportunities
The Head of School will work to develop relationships that create donors both financially and through volunteerism.
5. Creating and Sharing Adequate Reports
The Head of School will report regularly to the Senior Pastor, School Board and Presidium regarding the state of the school.
6. Implement Policies
The Head of School will implement church policies relative to the school and recommend updates to School Board Policies.
7. Develop and Maintain Community Relationships
The Head of School will establish and maintain favorable relations with the Texas District, other Lutheran Schools, and local schools and community leaders.
8. Long-Range Planning
The Head of School will work to advance Lutheran education in the Central Austin Area. The Head of School, along with the Preschool Director, Principals, and CLT (Campus Leadership Team) team, will analyze programs, activities, and functions to identify areas of growth and improvement.
9. Supervise and Coordinate the Facilities Management Team
Supervise the activities of staff charged with management of the facilities, including technology. Direct and coordinate the scheduling, janitorial, maintenance and technology services and infrastructure of the Redeemer campus.
10. Other Duties
The Head of School will perform special assignments requested by the Senior Pastor. He or she will be actively involved with the Redeemer congregation.
Qualifications
Required
Is or will become an active member of Redeemer Church.
Spiritually mature Christian active in the worship life of Redeemer.
Evidences a lifestyle that reflects a dynamic relationship with Christ.
Education Preparation
Professionally trained educator, master’s degree preferred
Has and will maintain Administrative Certification
Certification by the LCMS and appropriate government agencies
LCMS qualification by Lutheran Teacher Diploma or Colloquy
Of first preference: has this qualification
Of second preference: is working toward or will complete in a reasonable period of time the LCMS teacher colloquy
