MomCo at Redeemer Austin

MomCo is short for Mom Community. It is a worldwide community of Moms, a non-profit organization that encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church. Over a million moms annually gather for their local MomCo meetup- extending to 101+ countries, 25 languages, and 72,000+ meetings a year! We are fortunate to have a local group here at Redeemer Austin for the Moms in our community to connect, grow in faith, and find support.  

Our meetings (referred to as “meetups”) happen every other Wednesday evening throughout the school year from 6-8 pm. Our first meetup this school year will be September 9, 2026.

In general, our meetups will be in the Reception Room at Redeemer,  1500 West Anderson Lane. The easiest way to find us is to enter the portico door (entrance facing Lazy Lane) and walk through the Welcome Center. Pass in front of the mosaic art of Jesus, and after you pass the sanctuary area take a right and go upstairs. We will have signs pointing the way.

The portico door is generally kept locked for security reasons, and we will post a phone number to call or text for someone to let you in. Occasionally our meetups will be in another location (always at Redeemer though) due to scheduling reasons for other groups at church, and we will be sure to let everyone know ahead of time.

We eat and socialize for the first half hour or so. The leader will open the gathering in prayer. We usually watch a short video made by MomCo about topics related to the theme of the year and topic of the meetup. We then break into smaller groups to discuss the video, sometimes doing a fun activity like a craft or a game related to the theme. Using scripture, we focus on what the Bible tells us as it relates to the topic. We highlight special dates and events happening at Redeemer, allow time for members to bring up celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) or ask for prayer requests. We close the meetup in prayer and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

We also have incredible guest speakers occasionally throughout the year to offer their knowledge, wisdom, and expertise as women who follow Jesus.

We wouldn’t want a lack of childcare to be the reason you cannot join this amazing community of Moms, so we are thrilled to be able to offer babysitting. Our babysitters are booked by Amanda Iwabuchi, the Director of Children’s and Women’s Ministry at Redeemer.

Our meals are potluck style, provided by MomCo members signup and the LWML. We always include vegetarian and gluten free options.

We want to invite every mom to register or renew her membership if she hasn't already. Your dues are what make this community possible — they help our church keep all moms properly registered so everyone receives the resources MomCo provides through membership, and they help fund the supplies and babysitters that let us gather each week without a hitch. When you pay your dues, you're not just covering a fee — you're investing in a place where moms are cared for, encouraged, and never alone. We love and appreciate the MomCo Mentor Moms! They are women in the church who have older children, perhaps “flown the nest,” or even grandchildren! They are welcome to come to any and all MomCo meetups and social events, and join our email list and group text chat. There is nothing specific required or needed to become a Mentor Mom- just a willingness to share personal experiences/advice/thoughts, and pray for us in our motherhood journey.

The idea is even supported in scripture. As we read in Titus 2: 3-5 "Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior ... [and] are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled."

MomCo is open to all moms in our community, no matter where you attend church—or whether you attend church at all. We gather at Redeemer Lutheran Church, but you do not need to be a member to join us. If you’re looking for friendship, encouragement, and a community of moms to walk alongside you in motherhood, there’s a place for you here!

Not at all! Your child does not need to attend Redeemer Lutheran School.  MomCo is open to all moms in our community. Whether your children attend Redeemer, another school, preschool, daycare, or are home with you, you are welcome here!

We would love to have you involved in whatever capacity you're able! Just reach out to a current leader and let us know what you have in mind. We would love to have women step into social event planning for families or moms-only get togethers, social media leader, host gatherings, or lead Bible studies. Towards the end of every school year we look for the next year's leadership team to get meetups organized and reach out to potential new members. If you feel called into that role please let us know!
